The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised allegations against the Court of Appeal, claiming that the court’s actions are hindering preparations to challenge the judgment on the Nasarawa State governorship election at the Supreme Court.
Enokela Orogu, the PDP chairman in Nasarawa State, voiced the party’s frustration on AIT’s Kaakaki Programme, monitored by the media on Saturday.
Orogu accused the Court of Appeal of obstructing access to the judgment copy, essential for preparing the appeal, and potentially jeopardizing the appeal deadline.
He questioned the transparency of the court, pointing to the unusual reading of the judgment from a basic piece of paper.
Orogu expressed concern over the court’s delay in providing the judgment copy despite the judgment being read, suggesting a deliberate attempt to hinder the PDP from meeting the appeal deadline.
“We approached the Appeal Court for the copy of the judgment to prepare ourselves for appeal in the Supreme Court, but they denied us up to this moment, telling us it was not ready; we should come back on Monday,” Orogu stated.
“If it was not ready, why did they come to present the judgment? The judgment which I rather call a joker was even read on an ordinary piece of paper.
This is deliberate in order to hinder us from meeting up with the deadline of appeal. You can’t hide the truth,” he added.
