The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed strong criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, claiming it has failed Nigerians.
The PDP attributes the country’s worsening economic and social conditions to the administration’s policies.
In a post on its X page, the PDP stated: “The Tinubu administration’s bad leadership has plunged Nigerians into unimaginable hardship, exacerbating the country’s already precarious economic and social conditions.
Since assuming office in 2023, the APC-led administration’s policies and actions have only served to worsen the lives of Nigerians.”
The PDP highlighted several key issues contributing to the nation’s hardship:
1. Cost of Living: The party pointed to a surge in inflation, making basic necessities such as food, healthcare, fuel, and education increasingly unaffordable. “The prices of staple foods have skyrocketed, leaving many families struggling to make ends meet,” the statement read.
2. Infrastructure: The PDP criticized the state of the power sector, citing frequent blackouts and unreliable electricity supply, which have hindered economic growth and daily life.
3. Fuel Subsidy: The removal of the fuel subsidy has led to a significant hike in fuel prices, impacting transportation and other essential services. This has had a ripple effect, increasing the prices of goods and services across the board.
4. Insecurity: The PDP blamed rising insecurity, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, on Tinubu’s failure to address the country’s security challenges. “Nigerians are feeling vulnerable and unsafe,” the party asserted.
5. Healthcare: The PDP noted a decline in healthcare services due to inadequate funding and resources, resulting in unnecessary deaths and suffering for many Nigerians.
The party concluded: “The hardship faced by Nigerians under the Tinubu administration is a direct result of bad leadership and poor governance by the APC government.
The administration’s policies and actions have only served to worsen the lives of ordinary Nigerians, who are struggling to make ends meet.
This administration has failed in its promises to Nigerians and has failed to address the problems caused by its party in the eight years of the Buhari administration.”
The PDP’s statement underscores its belief that the current administration’s approach has exacerbated the challenges facing Nigeria, rather than alleviating them.
