The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State has refuted claims that Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, a former House of Representatives member, has been suspended from the party.
In a statement made on Wednesday, the PDP Chairman of Oredo Local Government, Oduwa Igbinosun, labeled the purported suspension as false and misleading.
Igbinosun clarified that the local government executives had been made aware of a supposed expulsion of Ogbeide-Ihama by an unrecognized group.
Igbinosun further explained that the National Working Committee of the party had extended the tenure of all elected executives and designated them to serve as caretaker committee members.
Additionally, the executives of PDP Ward 2 in Oredo Local Government disclaimed any knowledge of the alleged suspension and expulsion of Ogbeide-Ihama, who served two terms in the House of Representatives.
Speaking on behalf of the ward executives, the Secretary of Ward 2, Mr. Jesuobo Obadigie, stated, “Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama remains not just a member but a prominent and formidable leader of the party, and he continues to enjoy the total support of the members in Ward 2.”
Obadigie emphasized the importance of unity within the party, especially with the upcoming September governorship elections.
He warned against actions by mischief-makers and impostors that could cause division within the party.
“It is expected that anyone who loves the party should at this point be focused on actions that will unite the party ahead of the September governorship elections,” Obadigie said.
“This is to warn mischief makers and impostors to desist from their criminal and divisive actions that could cause harm.”
