Earl Osaro Onaiwu, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Edo State, has called on Governor Godwin Obaseki to cease the alleged blackmailing of “eight loyal and faithful” party members vying to succeed him as governor.
Onaiwu, speaking on behalf of the eight aspirants, criticized what they termed “the flawed state delegate election of the party held at the weekend”.
According to Onaiwu, Obaseki’s assertion that the eight aspirants are sponsored by the G5 Governors is “baseless and a blackmail”.
He stated that this false narrative is designed to garner support for Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar.
Highlighting his relationship with the G5 Governors as a former Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Onaiwu questioned the irony of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, who oversaw the flawed congress, being a product of the G5.
He also emphasized his unwavering support for Atiku Abubakar, citing his prominent role in the former vice president’s presidential campaigns in the 36 states of the federation in both 2019 and 2023.
