The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) held its 98th meeting in Abuja on Thursday, where 15 resolutions were made, as disclosed by Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary.
The party criticized the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for its handling of economic and security crises in the nation.
The communique issued at the end of the meeting highlighted several key points:
– Commendation for the resilience and commitment of party organs towards the unity and stability of the PDP.
– Appreciation for the courage of PDP members, especially youths and women, in resisting the divisive tactics of the APC.
– Concern over the APC’s policies leading to insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, and high costs of living.
– Condemnation of terrorism, violence, and killings across the country, and criticism of the APC’s failure to address these issues.
– Rejection of creeping totalitarianism and tendencies towards a one-party state.
– Demand for President Tinubu to convene a special National Security Council meeting to address insecurity.
– Call for the reconstitution of President Tinubu’s economic team with competent individuals.
– Request for the review of stifling economic policies, including fuel price increases and adverse fiscal policies.
– Unity call for all PDP members to work together for the party’s success and the benefit of Nigerians.
The NEC also approved the party congress timetable, reconstitution of the Party Disciplinary and Reconciliation Committees, and the extension of the Party Constitution Amendment Committee’s term.
Additionally, the NEC praised the National Working Committee’s efforts in rebranding the party, including the new PDP logo, and urged continued unity for the PDP’s success and democracy in Nigeria.
