Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending the weekend in Kenya for the African Union’s 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting.
At 4:20 on Monday afternoon, his plane landed at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, was among the crowd of government officials waiting to greet him at the airport.
Femi Gbajabiamila, the President’s Chief of Staff, Hope Uzodinnma, the Governor of Imo, and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, were the others.
At the meeting, President Tinubu represented ECOWAS in his role as chairman of the authority of the heads of state and government.
The trip to Kenya had begun on a Saturday for him.
The summit in Nairobi was notable for Tinubu’s rejection of a new scramble for Africa and his affirmation of Africa’s unity and power.
To prevent terrorist attacks and coups across Africa, Tinubu had also announced plans to bolster the ECOWAS Standby Force.
