President Bola Tinubu has pledged to immortalize the military personnel who lost their lives in the recent attack in Okuoma Community, Delta State.
The President assured that the fallen heroes would receive a befitting burial and national honors, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The President expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and emphasized that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.
He condemned the brutal manner in which the officers were killed while responding to distress calls.
“We salute all our men and women in uniform, and we sympathize with them.
I will soon make further pronouncements, but they must have a befitting burial and national honors,” President Tinubu stated.
In a related development, President Tinubu appealed to members of the National Assembly to exercise restraint in summoning heads of ministries, departments, and agencies before parliamentary committees.
He acknowledged the importance of oversight in ensuring transparency and accountability but cautioned against excessive summons that could disrupt operations and hinder service delivery.
“We must find a way to accommodate one another.
This is an appeal to you. See if you can accept representatives in some instances or even documentations,” the President urged lawmakers.
President Tinubu commended the harmonious relationship between the executive and the legislature, which has facilitated the expeditious passage of bills for the welfare of Nigerians.
He urged legislators to remember their constituencies and show compassion, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
In his response, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, emphasized the importance of forgiveness, generosity, and prayers during Ramadan.
He called for unity in the nation and reiterated the House’s support for President Tinubu’s administration.
Reflecting on the first 10 months of the administration, Speaker Abbas noted the collaborative efforts between the executive and the legislature for the progress of the country.
He assured continued support from the House for the President’s policies and initiatives.
