President Bola Tinubu has imparted counsel to governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging them to prioritize the interests of the people and diligently work for the prosperity of their respective states.
The advice was delivered during a meeting in Abuja where Tinubu received Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, and Governor-elect Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
Addressing the gathered governors, Tinubu acknowledged their hard work leading to victory, emphasizing that the true challenge lies in ensuring good governance.
He stressed the importance of inclusivity, saying, “Make sure that everyone is carried along. You are now the servants of the people.” Tinubu highlighted the need for a focus on the concerns of Nigerians, stating that this approach would not only make governance easier but also enhance the value of their states.
The President urged the governors to concentrate on delivering promises, stating, “When we achieve what we promise, voters will respect us.”
He expressed commitment to supporting them at the sub-national levels, emphasizing the strength and superior excellence symbolized by the eagle on the APC’s coat of arms.
APC’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who led the delegation, commended the integrity exhibited by the party’s candidates during the elections.
Ganduje mentioned the concession of victory in Bayelsa State, following President Tinubu’s directive for free, fair, and peaceful elections.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State extended gratitude to the President for providing strong and purposeful leadership, attributing their success to Tinubu’s demonstrated leadership.
He acknowledged positive economic responses to reforms and rapid-response strategies implemented by the central government.
