The presidential candidates for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, will adopt their final speeches in their petitions against the 2023 election on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
On the basis of numerous claims, both Atiku and Obi are contesting INEC’s announcement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the victor of the presidential election held on February 25.
The adoption was scheduled to take place that morning at 9 a.m., according to a hearing notice issued by the Tribunal and sent to Atiku and Obi.
Media reports claim that President Tinubu’s lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, and the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) head counsel, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, have both been served with the identical documents.
Atiku was reportedly served through his lead attorney Chief Chris Uche, SAN, while Obi was reportedly served through Livy Uzuoku, SAN, according to information obtained by Infostride News.
Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, SAN, INEC’s legal counsel, was the one to deliver the news to the commission.
Fagbemi, the lead attorney for APC, acknowledged receiving the notice of hearing.
Following the adoption of closing arguments, the court will set a date for the final judgment in accordance with the practice directive.
