The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the dismissal of 18 senior police officers and the demotion of 19 others for various acts of misconduct.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani.
According to the statement, the decisions were taken during the Commission’s plenary meeting in Abuja, where 109 outstanding disciplinary cases, 23 appeals, and petitions, including 13 court rulings, were reviewed.
“After rigorous consideration of the pending disciplinary matters before the Commission, it approved the dismissal of 19 senior police officers.
“The senior officers include 10 Assistant Superintendents, six Deputy Superintendents, two Chief Superintendents, and one Superintendent,” the statement read.
The PSC also approved the demotion of 19 senior officers, including one Assistant Commissioner of Police, one Chief Superintendent, two Superintendents, two Deputy Superintendents, and 13 Assistant Superintendents.
The Commission emphasized its commitment to upholding discipline and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.
