LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM–(Marketwired – May 23, 2014) – Rackspace® Hosting (NYSE: RAX) today announced that it is providing fully supported cloud hosting for one of London’s fastest growing minicab booking and price comparison apps, Kabbee.
Kabbee selected Rackspace for its 100 percent network uptime guarantee, which is vital for busy Londoners in need of faster, cheaper and safer minicab services and also for its team of specialists who provide award-winning Fanatical Support®, which allows Kabbee to concentrate on giving its users the best experience possible.
Kabbee challenged the fragmented minicab market in June 2011, and has grown exponentially since then — just recently closing £3.8m funding. Now working with over 70 cab fleets across London, the Kabbee app allows customers to book by car type, price, arrival time, on time rate and user rating, any time of the day or night. Crunching all this data to provide real-time quotes to give its users access to their best journey options meant that the company soon exceeded the capacity of its previous hosting provider.
Dave Walker, Kabbee’s Chief Technical Officer, comments on the services: “We decided to go with Rackspace for several reasons, but the real stand out reason is their customer support. For Kabbee, operating in an industry like ours and striving to make minicabs mighty, customer support is of the upmost importance to us and so I look to work with people who feel the same way. We’re already enjoying working with Rackspace, and feel confident that it’s the best platform to accommodate our predicted growth.”
Kabbee turned to Rackspace for its ability to scale up as the business continues to grow and the high level of customer service it offers. Rackspace Intensive® hosting means that Kabbee has access to a dedicated account manager and business development consultant who know the business inside out, as well as a support team of experienced system engineers 24/7.
As more and more people use real-time quotes and ratings, via Kabbee, it is important that the data is stored safely and is analysed and managed appropriately. With Rackspace’s expertise in helping businesses with their big data requirements, Kabbee is able to optimise the data they receive to help ensure that each customer is getting the best experience and price they can.
Jeff Cotten, Managing Director International at Rackspace, commented: “It’s always exciting to work with start-ups and support them as they grow, especially a business like Kabbee that has been such an instant hit with Londoners. The last thing anyone wants at the end of a night out or a long journey back into London is to be stuck without being able to get home. With 24/7 support from a team of specialists, Kabbee can make sure customers always have access to a fleet of cars across the capital.”
As Kabbee continues to expand, its plan is to move to a Rackspace managed cloud solution, where it can benefit from more than simple infrastructure, it will get backup, patching and enhanced security, proactive monitoring, incident response and more. As a result, London’s leading minicab hailing company will be easily able to replicate the success they have had in London in different cities across the world, without having to worry about scaling up on infrastructures for services.
