The immediate past governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has dismissed reports suggesting his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the expanded executive meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, Ortom reiterated his loyalty to the PDP, stating, “The rumours that I’m decamping to APC, I’m not going anywhere… I am committed to my party (PDP).”
Ortom further addressed speculations naming him as the leader of the party in the state, emphasizing his dedication to the PDP and its ideals.
He clarified, “APC has not invited me to join it… I am not a busybody who will be moving from one place to another.
We must respect the party at all times.
Let us strategise to return to power. Now is the time to plan, we must plan ahead of them as they did in 2023.”
Additionally, Ortom dispelled notions of discord with former governor Gabriel Suswam and Senator Abba Moro, asserting, “PDP is the only party that is strong and receptive to the yearnings of the people.
With our new commitment, we will make the party more vibrant for tomorrow. We shall succeed in future elections. I do not have any friction with Moro and Suswam.”
Ortom’s reaffirmation of his allegiance to the PDP and his commitment to its goals comes amidst ongoing political developments in Benue State.
