Magnus Abe, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Rivers State, has announced his decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abe made this announcement during an interview on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, on Monday.
Abe, a prominent ally of President Bola Tinubu, stated during the interview, “Politically, I am heading back to the APC.”
This move comes after Abe contested the top job in Rivers State on March 18, 2023, as one of the leading candidates.
However, he lost the polls to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Siminalayi Fubara.
Abe, who had also lobbied for ministerial slots from Rivers State, saw Tinubu appoint Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor, as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), instead of accommodating him and other top politicians from the state.
