The Sokoto State House of Assembly has sworn in two newly elected members, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji (PDP, Bodinga North) and Alhaji Bashir Dahiru (APC, Tambuwal West), following the February 3 rerun election in two constituencies of the state.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Alhaji Tukur Bala, administered the oath of office to the new members at the plenary in Sokoto on Tuesday.
“I wish to request the suspension of Order 15, Rule 12, Sub-rule 1 of the House Standing Orders 2019, to allow the newly elected members’ entourage to attend the chamber for the stated purpose,” he said.
Speaking shortly after, the lawmakers expressed gratitude to their constituents for electing them to serve as their representatives.
They pledged their loyalty to the leadership of the house and its standing rules.
