Spain coach, Luis Enrique has come out to say that he and his players are treating Tuesday’s must-win UEFA Nations League game against Portugal as if it were a World Cup quarterfinal. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he and his players have planned for the crunch game as if it were a quarterfinal in Qatar, and it is 90 minutes he expects his players to give their all for.
Enrique added that finishing in the Nations League semifinals would represent good progress for the Spanish national team.
His words, “We have planned this game as if it were a quarterfinal in Qatar,”
“It’s 90 minutes and we need to win, not even a draw will do. It’s positive that we reach the sixth round of the Nations League with a possibility to finish top and qualify for the final four.”
“It is a final, it is beautiful. I’m certain that against Portugal we will be up to the task.”
“This is football and there are no friendly games,”
“The level of demand in national team football has changed, take a look at the rest of the results.”
