A fresh suicide attack yesterday hit Maiduguri, the borno State capital, leading to four deaths.
According to State Police Commissioner, Aderemi Opadokun, a female suicide bomber blew herself up near a military checkpoint in the city.
Opadokun confirmed the attack. “It happened near a military checkpoint. “Two persons dead and three injured,” vanguard quoted him to have said.
The incident was said to have occured near a military checkpoint at Shagari Low-cost Housing Estate, along Maiduguri-Monguno Road, on the outskirt of Maiduguri metropolis and about 200 metres away from the 7 Division, of the Nigerian Army.
The attack came barely 24 hours after the city was hit with a twin blast, killing scores.
President Muhammadu was in Niger and Chad for talks about ending the Boko Haram insurgency. He has also directed the military high command to move to Maiduguri so as to ensure more efficiency in tbe prosecution of the war against Boko Haram. The Islamist sect has killed more than 15,000 people since its violent campaign began in 2009.
