The appeal that was submitted by Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) was turned down by the Supreme Court on the grounds that it was devoid of merit.
The election of President Bola Tinubu was validated by a panel of seven judges who reached a decision that was unanimous.
They affirmed the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), which had previously ruled against the petitioner.
The lead judgement, which was given by Justice John Okoro and lasted less than five minutes, found that the majority of the problems in Obi’s appeal were resolved in the previous judgement in the appeal by Atiku of the PDP.
This finding was made despite the fact that the lead judgement lasted less than five minutes.
Justice Okoro stated that the subject regarding the nomination of Vice President Kashim Shettma was the only point in Obi’s appeal that was not mentioned in the Atiku appeal.
He stated that the matter regarding Shettima’s alleged double nomination was previously handled by the Supreme Court in its judgement that was given on May 9 in the appeal by the PDP against INEC and three others. He said that the judgement was made in the appeal by the PDP against INEC and three others.
After reviewing the case, Justice Okoro stated that the appellants, who were fully aware of the previous judgement, had no need to bring it up again in front of the Supreme Court.
