Although the transfer window hasn’t been open for long, we’ve witnessed some incredible moves, and unlike many NFL picks during draft seasons, we’ve had shocking actions during this window. For instance, Tchoumeni, who was primarily touted to join PSG or Chelsea, has chosen the Los Blancos to play in Spain for the foreseeable future.
We’ve also seen Antonio Rudiger move to Real Madrid, and many other top players switch loyalty a few days into the transfer window. Undoubtedly, it will be a busy season, and we are here to see how teams strengthen their squads. Man City and Liverpool already got big-money transfers in England, and Conte has been busy getting solid players.
With the numerous players talking about leaving and different rumours flying around, we might see more top players move to another team to continue their playing careers. These picks are similar to the leading NFL expert picks during draft season. In that case, here are seven players that we think would play for another team next season.
Gabriel Jesus
There is no doubt that Gabriel Jesus’s time on the blue side of Manchester is ending. The Brazilian has been struggling to get enough playing time, but thanks to Pep Guardiola’s tactics, he doesn’t seem to fit into the squad on many occasions. And with Erling Haaland joining the team, Jesus would have to sit on the bench for a long time if he stayed at City.
Therefore, he has to pitch his tent somewhere else, and fortunately, many teams are looking to get the 25-year-old into their squad, including Chelsea, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Arsenal. So, the next few weeks are pivotal in Jesus’ footballing career.
Paul Pogba
The French star doesn’t seem to be loving life at his boyhood club after making a big-money move from Juventus a few years ago. Pogba was the most expensive player in England at the time of his transfer, and that record was only broken when Manchester City paid 100 million for Jack Grealish.
But with Pogba’s contract done and him refusing to sign a new contract, we might see the French man move to another club with Juventus at the top of the pile after he rejected advances from Manchester City.
Robert Lewandowski
The Polish striker has expressed disappointment against the management at Bayern Munich based on how he’s been treated. He has been the team’s best player for many years, scoring most of the goals, and carries the team in dead rubber situations. However, in recent months, he has been vocal about his discomfort.
Therefore, we would see Lewandowski take a trip to another club and most likely another country. His are set for Barcelona, which is ironic, considering how much pain he’s caused the Catalan giants over the past few seasons.
Frankie De Jong
Although the player has continued to admit that he is OK with playing at Barcelona, the team’s financial issues have put them in a rut where they need to offload some players, and FDJ is part of the top earners. Therefore, they might need to sell the Dutch midfielder to reduce the wages and get more money to strengthen the team.
Manchester United are the frontrunners looking to sign De Jong. However, the player is unwilling to move to Old Trafford as he would love to keep playing Champions League football.
Romelu Lukaku
The move from Inter to Chelsea was supposed to be epic as the player would be reunited with his boyhood club after many years. However, Lukaku doesn’t seem to fit into Thomas Tuchel’s plan after less than a year at the Bridge as the club struggled throughout last season.
They played four finals throughout the season but only won two, so the team needs to rebuild. And like top teams that make NFL predictions, Chelsea would have to find a way to offload Lukaku and get a player that fits into Tuchel’s playing style. However, Lukaku wants to only go back to Inter Milan. So, we might see him back at San Siro next season.
Sadio Mane
Liverpool and Senegal Sadio Mane are certainly one of the best players in the world this year. He was pivotal in Senegal’s AFCON win and helped Liverpool win two trophies this season. However, Mane’s five years with Liverpool are tainted by how he is continuously living in the shadows of Mohammed Salah.
In addition, Liverpool hasn’t compensated him well compared to other players in the league. Therefore, like Lewandowski, Mane is displeased with the board and would love to play elsewhere next season. The rumours are that Mane would be moving to Bayern Munich or Real Madrid as they are his top two choices in the transfer window this season.
