The Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have welcomed back thousands of previous governor Ibikunle Amosun’s fans from the state’s 20 local government areas.
Prince Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun State, welcomed the returnees to the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, where he praised them for their dedication and unwavering commitment to their beliefs. The returnees were led by the factional chairman of the Amosun-led party executive.
The governor praised the people of the state, saying, “I want to congratulate your feeling of loyalty to leadership, which I will say is not only respectable, it is enviable.
This is the sort of culture that has to be fostered and solidified. This is a culture that is rapidly disappearing from our society. Complete and total dedication.
When things aren’t going well, some people pick up and go, but you don’t. This kind of dedication should be admired and emulated. We need to understand that a political party may have only one leader at any given moment.
To attain our goals, dreams, wishes, and aspirations, we must not form factions or break away from leadership, but rather submit ourselves fully to them.
Because doing so would tear apart the foundation of the political family we call our party. You have to realize that the governor is the only viable candidate for party leadership in the state.
The governor said, “It is my duty to work towards the individual and collective welfare of our members. I am grateful for the trust placed in me as party leader.”
The governor has called on all party members to put the past in the past and refocus their efforts on the party’s goals and the state’s economic and social progress.
Put the past in the past. Let’s focus on bolstering our shared values as a group. I’m happy to have you back. Ogun State’s future is up to you, and it’s ours to take. I welcome you with the same excitement that the parent of the prodigal son had at seeing his wayward son again.
We beg those of you who stayed behind to help us welcome back our brothers and sisters. Let our loyalty be seen by those who are joining us. I promise that you will feel at home here.
Chief Yemi Sanusi, the chairman of the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC), said that disagreements are inevitable in any human relationship and that even in times of war, there is always a place for peaceful settlement of conflict, before urging the returnees to fully integrate themselves with the party’s other members.
Chief Derin Adebiyi, the leader of the returnees, thanked the governor and party members for accepting them back into the fold, saying that everyone involved is committed to working for the betterment of the party and the State.
