Three Players That Could Save Manchester United From A Very Awful Season

It’s fair to say that Manchester United haven’t had such a stellar start to their new era under David Moyes.

This is emphasised by the fact that Moyes’ former club Everton are further up the table than his current employers.

United certainly need more fire power with the recurring injury problems that Robin Van Persie has been faced with and the lack of creativity in their midfield means they aren’t scoring enough and therefore haven’t been winning enough.

The first player that they should sign is the former champions league winning Dutchman known as Wesley Sneijder.

The Galatasaray midfielder is still young enough to do the business at a top European club and with Manchester United’s transfer budget, he would be certainly fit the bill. He creates goals for his team and can chip in with vitally important ones as well, like the goal against Juventus in the Champions League that put them through to the last 16 of the competition. For enough money, he wouldn’t turn them down.

Secondly, they need a top striker that can handle the pace of the Premier League, the ability to score important goals at important times and to fire prolifically for his side.

Current strikers playing well in other top divisions in Europe include Giuseppe Rossi, the former Manchester United youth player, Mario Mandzukic and Stefan Kiessling, and the 21-year-old Lorient striker Vincent Aboubakar.

The Cameroonian striker is only four goals behind the mercurial talent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and one goal behind the Uruguayan hit man Edinson Cavani in the Ligue 1 top scorers list.

Powerful, agile and en eye for goal, Aboubakar could be a Premier League revelation, though perhaps one for the future.

Lastly, we see the need for a central defender in the United back-line. With Rio Ferdinand not getting any younger and with Nemanja Vidic out of contract in the summer, there could be an immense need for a top quality center-back ahead of Evans, Smalling and Jones.

Names like Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Juventus’ Giorgio Chiellini are both top name players who would fit in perfectly at United.

With Dortmund off pace in the Bundesliga, and losing another key player to Bayern Munich in the summer, then the German side may be reluctant to sell unless for a big price tag. Whereas Chiellini is sat at the top of the league at Juve and will perhaps find more success sticking with ‘The Old Lady’ rather than moving to ‘The Theatre of Dreams’.
