National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashir Obasa, among others, will be conferred with various chieftaincy titles as the new Anyangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Adegunrushen V holds his final coronation on August 15, 2015.
The Oba disclosed this while briefing newsmen in his palace shortly after his return from a compulsory 60-day seclusion.
Oba Shotobi described his ascension to the throne as the will of God. He, therefore, called for peace while urging other contenders to join hands with him to move the town forward.
“Having fought gallantly, and God has ordained his own, I earnestly plead with all my brother princes to please sheathe their swords and collaborate with me to usher into Ikorodu a glorious reign,” he said.
“I hereby invoke the spirits of my progenitor and founder of this throne, the first Oloja LASUNWON and indeed other Obas who have ruled this town to pray for peace, harmony, and unprecedented development during my reign. I see imminent signs for change and glorious future for lkorodu. Oba Shotobi warned the youths to refrain from cultism and acts of violence, saying he will not tolerate any act of violence in his domain.
“I urge our children to be at peace and engage in positive and productive ventures towards building a future for the unborn children. There shall be no room for cultism, brigands, hooliganism, and disruption of public peace in my domain. I shall always be available to work with all youth organizations, and support all efforts to promote the interest of the youth for positive and productive values.”
Oba Shotobi of the Lasunwon Royal Family was selected to ascend the throne by the Kingmakers after a keenly contested process with 23 other qualified princes.
