Sunday Karimi’s election as senator for the Kogi West senatorial district was validated by the Election Petition Tribunal in Lokoja.
After reviewing the petition, the tribunal upheld Senator Karimi’s election and dismissed the petitioner’s arguments as without merit and utterly without foundation.
The tribunal ruled that the majority of valid votes cast in the election were for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Karimi, and it fined the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) complainant, T.J. Yusuf, N150,000.
Infostride News readers may remember that in 2023, Yusuf accused the ruling APC of manipulating the senatorial election in Kogi West by claiming that the BVAS machine had not been used in all voting precincts.
Karimi commented on the ruling by saying, “The choice of voting for me at the ballot has been further proven.” With her ruling approving my return and dismissing the petitioner’s case on all grounds, the court has once again taken a stand for justice, maintained our democracy, and strengthened the rule of law.
