The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has spoken out against the tribunal’s decision to overturn the results of the March 18 gubernatorial election and proclaim David Umbugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the victor.
At a press conference on Wednesday, party chairman Aliyu Bello lent his entire support to Sule’s plan to appeal the tribunal’s decision to the Court of Appeal.
According to Bello, the party believes the tribunal made a serious mistake in reaching its ruling.
“It is the candid and considered opinion of our great party, the APC, that the election tribunal erred in arriving at its decision,” Bello said.
He went on to say that his party agrees with the minority opinion because it is grounded in reason and the rule of law.
“We are therefore in awe as to how the tribunal arrived at its decision,” he continued.
Assuring his constituents that Sule would vigorously pursue the appeal through legal channels, the state party chairman also encouraged inhabitants of Nasarawa State, especially the party’s supporters, to stay calm and patient.
