On Wednesday, as Vice President Joe Biden prepared to fly to New Delhi for the G20 Summit, the White House reaffirmed the country’s commitment to assisting India in hosting a successful meeting.
On September 9 and 10, India will host the annual G20 Summit in New Delhi. On Thursday, Biden, who will turn 80 years old while in India, will fly to New Delhi for the G20 Leaders’ Summit. On Friday, the President will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and on Saturday and Sunday, he will take part in the G20 Summit’s official sessions.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters at her daily press conference, “We commend Prime Minister Modi for his leadership of the G20 this year, and we are committed to helping ensure that India has a successful G20 host as they host (the summit) this year.”
So, we’re going to keep our word and do that. In answer to a query, she stated that both President Biden and Prime Minister Modi expressed their commitment to achieving the summit’s stated goals during Modi’s visit in June.
When we return later this week, the President will be ready to continue working with the Prime Minister and other leaders, Jean-Pierre stated.
We will have more to discuss as we get closer to tomorrow about Vice President Biden’s bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi, she said.We are fully invested in making this meeting productive. There will be more to report, most notably on our next bilateral meeting with the prime minister.
