Vice President Kashim Shettima has pledged the protection of all Nigerians’ rights, regardless of their religious and ethnic backgrounds, under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Shettima made this assurance in Lagos during the 6th Nigeria World Maulid Anniversary National Conference and special prayer organized by the Jam’iyyatu Ansariddeen Attijaniyya of Nigeria in honor of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
Addressing the gathering, Shettima emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all Nigerians, irrespective of their beliefs.
He stated, “The teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) serve as a compass guiding us through the complexities of a multicultural world. He left us a template to manage a diverse society fairly. He taught us ways to build peace and resolve conflicts through dialogue, kindness, and tolerance.”
Delivering his keynote address on the theme, ‘Searching For A Compass In A Multicultural World,’ Shettima expressed gratitude to the Secretary-General of the Ansariddeen Attijaniyya for preserving moral values.
He urged accountability in deeds and actions, calling on individuals to uphold the Prophet’s message of fairness and inclusivity in their daily interactions.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the nation, Shettima recognized the trust placed in President Tinubu by the Nigerian people.
He called for reflection and prayer for the President and other leaders, urging citizens to remember their purpose in a world filled with trials and distractions.
Shettima also expressed appreciation for the special prayer session held by the Jam’iyyatu Ansariddeen Attijaniyya, where the Quran was recited 4,444 times for Nigeria and its leader.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring every Nigerian can practice their religion freely without fear or discrimination, extending a hand of friendship to the Jam’iyyatu Ansariddeen Attijaniyya for promoting peaceful coexistence among religious communities.
Shettima concluded by highlighting the significance of internal transformation for societal change, quoting the Qur’an to emphasize the need for personal change as a prerequisite for broader change.
He urged Nigerians to lead by example and embrace the Prophet’s teachings of compassion, justice, and fairness in building a better nation.
