Manchester City football club has come out to confirm that their non-playing staff will not be furloughed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This is coming after Liverpool received massive backlash for suspending their non-playing staffs on furlough yesterday.
According to the EPL defending champions, MCFC will not be utilising the UK Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and all non playing will be keeping their jobs.
The club added that they are focused on protecting their staff, their jobs and Manchester City as a whole during these trying times.
Their statement read, “We can confirm, following a decision by the chairman and board last week, that Manchester City will not be utilising the UK Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (government-funded furloughing).
“We remain determined to protect our people, their jobs and our business, whilst at the same time doing what we can to support our wider community at this most challenging time for everybody.”
