Barcelona coach, Xavi has sent out a warning to Real Madrid after his team thrashed Getafe 4-0. He recently insisted that he has his eyes on the La Liga title, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, the club must keep putting pressure on Girona and Madrid till the very end because it is not in Barcelona’s DNA to throw in the towel.
Xavi added that he was happy with his boys today because it was a convincing win for the team.
His words, “I think it’s early, but yes. We don’t throw in the towel. From the last 15 points we have 13, we have to believe until the end. I think there may be options to win the league. We put pressure on Girona and Madrid. We have to do our homework. We always believe in what we are doing. I think we will meet again at home. We were missing a good game at home. In the Champions League, everything is open, it will be heads or tails, and we are on time.
Happy for many things. It’s a very complete game in attack and defence. We matched their intensity and we knew how to go into space many times. We knew how to get out of Getafe’s high pressure. It was a convincing game for the team.”
WOW.
Futbol Club Barcelona, commonly referred to as Barcelona and colloquially known as Barça, is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football.
Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, Catalan, German, and English footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto “Més que un club” (“More than a club”). Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona.
There is often a fierce rivalry between the two strongest teams in a national league, and this is particularly the case in La Liga, where the game between Barcelona and Real Madrid is known as “The Classic” (El Clásico).
From the start of national competitions the clubs were seen as representatives of two rival regions in Spain: Catalonia and Castile, as well as of the two cities. The rivalry reflects what many regard as the political and cultural tensions felt between Catalans and the Castilians, seen by one author as a re-enactment of the Spanish Civil War. Over the years, the head-to-head record between the two clubs is 102 victories for Madrid, 100 victories for Barcelona, and 52 draws.
