Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday reaffirmed China’s “no limits” partnership with Russia during a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, marking the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to China’s state media, Xi emphasized the strength and long-term nature of China-Russia relations, asserting that their alliance operates independently of external influence.
“China-Russia relations have strong internal driving force and unique strategic value, and are not aimed at, nor are they influenced by, any third party.

The development strategies and foreign policies of China and Russia are long-term,” Xi stated.
The talks come as former U.S. President Donald Trump pushes for a swift resolution to the Ukraine war, raising concerns that Washington might attempt to drive a wedge between Beijing and Moscow to shift focus to competition with China.
Trump recently alarmed European allies by holding discussions with Russia without including Ukraine or NATO countries and controversially blaming Ukraine for Moscow’s 2022 invasion.
Monday’s phone call marks the second discussion between Xi and Putin this year, following their January talks on strengthening bilateral ties in light of Trump’s potential return to the U.S. presidency.
